Ankit Tiwari, who shot to fame with song Sunn Raha Hai Na Tu from Aashiqui 2 and his brother Ankur Tiwari have been arrested by the Versova police on alleged rape charges.
According to a source, The twenty eight year old victim is not from the film industry. She had come to Mumbai on a holiday and was staying with her sister who lives in Versova. The singer-musician met her through a common friend and the two were in touch with each other. The two brothers used to visit the house frequently.”
The police said that the incident happened late last night. As per the allegation, Ankit Tiwari and Ankur Tiwari went to the house where the survivor was staying and Ankit TIwari raped the girl while Ankur Tiwari held a knife on her neck threatening her with dire consequences if she disclosed the incident to anyone, added the cops but have not confirmed the details.
One of the publication has reported the victim is Ankit’s girlfriend, an event management professional, who the singer has decided not to marry despite promising to marry her.
However Ankit Tiwari has denied all charges made by the woman who has accused him of rape.
He said, “I am being framed by the girl. All the charges by the woman are false and baseless. This is completely false. I was at home. Also her allegations against my brother are also false.”
However, Ankit Tiwari did admit that he has known the woman for one year. He said, “I was in a relationship with her for one year and I had got her to meet my parents. But when we found that she had a kid, my parents did not want me to continue with the relationship.”
The police have arrested both Ankit Tiwari and Ankur Tiwari in the case.
