The film starring Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Diljit Dosanjh and Kareena Kapoor Khan is based on the menace of drug abuse. With loads of controversies and hassles, finally, the film was released. The movie was much hyped amidst the masses due to its long tiff with the Censor Board.
Given its subject of drug abuse, ‘Udta Punjab’ was much awaited by the youth. The film was expected to do good business and the same happened. It was assumed that because of the online leak, the movie would lose out on potential numbers but nothing of that sort happened.
The film has entered its first weekend at the box office. The Saturday collection of the movie comes to Rs. 11.50 crore net approx. (Rs 115 million), the Friday collection of the film was Rs.10 crore net approx. (Rs 100 million) In all ‘Udta Punjab’ has already crossed the 20 crore mark and the total of the film comes to Rs.22 crore net approx. (220 million).
The film has opened on a great note in East Punjab and has also done commendable business in the cities of Mumbai, Bangalore and Pune. Due to positive reviews and impressive performances the collections might further improve. The film is surely a big one for Shahid Kapoor.
