In the series, which depicted a realistic look at the training of army cadets, SRK played the leading role of Abhimanyu Rai. His Fauji success led to bag many television roles and among them was in Aziz Mirza’s television series Circus (1989–90) and Mani Kaul’s miniseries Idiot (1991.)

After being noticed in Fauji, Shah Rukh Khan started getting offers for films in Mumbai. He was not prepared to go ahead with films as he was happy with his theatre and serials.
