Deepika Padukone Playing Female Lead In Rajinikanth Film? Director Pa Ranjith Answers!

It was reported that Deepika Padukone was offered the leading role opposite superstar Rajinikanth in Pa Ranjith’s upcoming untitled project. The last time Rajinikanth and Ranjith collaborated on a project was in a gangster drama, Kabali.

The movie was a humungous hit at the box-office and it went on to become the third highest grossing film after Aamir Khan‘s Dangal and Salman Khan’s Sultan despite receiving mixed responses from the audience.

It seems like the two are going to be back together for a Tamil film which is speculated to be a gangster drama again. The rumour mill were buzzing really strong with the news that Deepika has been offered to play the lead role alongside Rajinikanth.

However, Ranjith dismissed the rumours on Twitter. On being asked by a Twitter user if Bollywood actress, Deepika is roped in, Ranjith said, “No this is not true.”

It was being speculated very strongly that Deepika has been approached for the role and she was set to share the screen space with the Tamil superstar for the second time. Before this, Deepika was signed to star opposite Rajinikanth in KS Ravikumar’s Rana, which was shelved due to ill health of the actor. After which she was roped in to play the female lead in India’s first motion-capture film Kochadaiiyaan, alongside Rajinikanth, which was directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth.

The other Bollywood actress who is in the running is Vidya Balan. When the Begum Jaan actress was recently asked about this buzz, she said, “We will know in a while.

This untitled project is in the pre-production stage and is expected to be on floors in May.
