Now that the dust has settled, we can take a better look at how two films – Deepika Padukone’s xXx: Return of Xander Cage and Priyanka Chopra’s Baywatch – performed. For both stars, they were first steps into a new film industry, the oldest and most popular in the world. However, the box office collections of their respective films speak a thousand words.
While Deepika’s film, xXx – The Return of Xander Cage collected 15.23 cr in the opening weekend in the Indian markets (including paid previews), Priyanka Chopra’s Baywatch could merely reach one-third of it, collecting 5 cr (including paid previews).
The lifetime Box office collections of both the films in the Indian market also paint a starkly varying picture. While Deepika Padukone’s xXx: Return of Xander Cage minted 40 crores in the domestic markets, Priyanka Chopra’s Baywatch has barely managed to cross the 10 crore mark in India.

Baywatch did not just open to an ice – cold response in the International territories, but was ignored terribly in the Indian markets as well.
Deepika’s Hollywood debut scored 4 times more than that of Priyanka Chopra’s and that goes on to say a lot about the stardom and fan base of both the leading ladies in India.
Both the films had a differential approach to their release in the Indian markets too. The makers of Baywatch choose to ignore India when it came to promotions, the film released one week after the International release and Priyanka was seen promoting the film solo in India.
On the other hand, the makers of xXx – The Return of Xander Cage, relied on Deepika’s fandom in India for their film. The entire team including Vin Diesel did not just promote their film extensively on Deepika’s home ground, but also released it in India one day before any other country.
Well, the fate of both these films has been sketched and the results are for all to see with Deepika emerging as the clear winner!
