MUMBAI: July is the month of rains, and it surely is raining birthdays in Bollywood. Today, actress Katrina Kaif celebrates her birthday, and here’s wishing her all the success for the future!
Katrina Kaif (born Katrina Turquotte), a British citizen came to Mumbai in the early 2000’s, to try her hand at modelling and acting. She was discovered by Kaizad Gustad, who cast her in ‘Boom’ in 2003. The film tanked at the box office, but she was noticed for her sizzling sex appeal and exotic looks.
Her breakthrough years came in 2005-2006, when she landed a plum role in Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Sarkar’, opposite Abhishek Bachchan. She followed this up with two back-to-back hits in ‘Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya’, opposite her then beau Salman Khan and ‘Humko Deewana Kar Gaye’, opposite Akshay Kumar.
A string of box office successes followed, with ‘Namastey London’, ‘Partner’, ‘Welcome’, ‘Race’, ‘Singh is Kingg’ and many more. She tried her hand at comedy as well as author-backed roles (‘Ajab Prem ki Ghazab Kahani’ and ‘New York’ respectively), and was appreciated for her performances.
The year 2010 onwards has really spelt gold for British-Kashmiri actress Katrina, who has been part of some of the biggest blockbusters in recent times. ‘Raajneeti’, ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’, ‘Mere Brother ki Dulhan’ and ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ have firmly entrenched her in the league of superstar heroines.
She has also been lucky enough to work with all three Khans: Salman Khan in several of her earlier films, Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’, and Aamir Khan in the upcoming ‘Dhoom 3’.
More than anything, her hard work, dedication and sincerity sets Katrina apart. She is known to be diligent and thorough, learning the local language with utmost dedication and taking up dancing classes to hone her additional skills as an actress. Today, she is a formidable name in Bollywood, and has achieved all the success only due to her undying spirit and will to excel.
Here’s wishing a hard working, talented, ambitious and gorgeous Katrina Kaif a very happy birthday!
