Deepika Padukone’s Padmavati got rejected by many male stars for a very shocking reason!
The Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone is next going to be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period drama ‘Padmavati’ is known to all. We also know that the film stars Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in the role of male leads. But most of us do not know that it actually took very long for the director to finalize the male leads of the film.
According to a report of DNA, many famous actors of B-town rejected SLB’s film just because they thought that the film is female-centric. The fact that the film’s main character is a lady is something which could not be digested by those male actors.
The film critic Rajeev Masand has been quoted in the report saying, “Bhansali stuck with his leading lady even after top male stars offered to star in it if the director was willing to change the title to sound less like it revolved around the heroine. Deepika is returning the favor by standing firmly by Bhansali’s side, focusing solely on Padmavati, even as her co-actors Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor are dividing their time between Bhansali’s set and ad-films, appearances, and the like.”
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’ sees Deepika Padukone in the role of Queen Padmini. Shahid Kapoor will be seen playing her husband Rana Rawal Ratan Singh, also the ruler of Mewar. Ranveer Singh will be portraying the role of Allaudin Khilji, who invades Mewar because of his desire to capture Queen Padmini.
The film has been facing many issues, right from the sets being vandalized to Bhansali being attacked. But the film’s shooting is on and it is expected to hit the theaters on November 17, this year.
