KOLKATA: The very first match of the sixth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) spelt gold for superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s team, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Defending champions KKR set the tone for the series, with their thumping victory in the opening match of the season. Shah Rukh Khan was ecstatic as his team batted, bowled and fielded to perfection, crushing the Delhi Daredevils (DD) to dust!

Captain Gautam Gambhir was in top form, along with their ace spinner Sunil Narine, who restricted the Delhi Daredevils to a score of 128 all bowled out. Narine was deservedly the man of the match, while Shah Rukh Khan proved the most effective cheerleader, cheering on his team every time they hit a four or a six.

Spotted in the stands with his children and their friends, and the very beautiful Deepika Padukone, Khan’s night was made when his boys sealed the victory with their stupendous performance. Both SRK and Deepika were clad in white, and were seen sharing notes about the match as it progressed.

Shah Rukh and Deepika’s sizzling chemistry will be seen once again in ‘Chennai Express’, which releases later this year.

With the first match turning into such a success, it remains to be seen whether KKR can retain the title, since they are already off to such a flying start, against a strong and able team like DD. Or is it too early to say anything yet, for in IPL, you never quite know what will happen?
