Jaya Bachchan Reveals Her Arty Side At ‘Transcending Eternity’

Jaya Bachchan inaugurated an exhibition: poetically titled ‘Transcending Eternity’, by Indian sculptor and painter Satish Gupta.

MUMBAI: Art is a window to one’s soul; or so the adage goes. This was proven beyond belief at the ‘Transcending Eternity’ exhibition held by artist Satish Gupta in Mumbai; with Bollywood actress Jaya Bachchan playing chief guest at the event.

Jaya Bachchan was there to inaugurate the exhibition: poetically titled ‘Transcending Eternity’, by Indian sculptor and painter Satish Gupta. On display were a host of Gupta’s incredible works: including his paintings, sculptures and a fusion of both, which he terms “sculpture-paintings”

Jaya Bachchan was the epitome of grace and elegance in a vermilion coloured sari and a matching blood-red rose peeking out from her bun. She interacted at length with Satish Gupta, trying to understand the intricacies of his phenomenal works.

Other Bollywood attendees at this arty-do were action man/ businessman Suniel Shetty (in a black shirt and blue jeans) and theatre person Raell Padamsee (colourful in a pink sari). The art fraternity was represented by Jenny Bhatt, artist Charan Sharma, Pravina Mecklai, and many others. ‘Gallery Art & Soul’ owner Tarana Khubchandani was seen mingling with industrialist Kumar Mangalam Birla.

Interestingly, we’re now seeing more and more of Jaya Bachchan’s artistic side. No, the lady hasn’t taken to painting yet, but she was the brain behind the birthday exhibition held for her husband, the legendary superstar actor Amitabh Bachchan on his 70th birthday. She put together a coffee-table book of the top paintings of the top artists from the country, and was reportedly instrumental in the idea to donate the proceeds from the sale of the book to charity.
