MUMBAI: Filmmaker Kabir Khan, of ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ fame, has trained his sights on situating his next film in the conflict-ridden Syria-Lebanon border.

The film, which will star Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif, is touted to be a geo-political thriller, which will begin shooting early in October. The first schedule will reportedly commence at the conflicted border between Syria and Lebanon.

This will be the first time a Bollywood film has been shot at the border of Lebanon and Syria.

Kabir had made up his mind to shoot in the Lebanese capital of Beirut, despite the fact that the schedule could not be insured. The first schedule will have a few scenes filmed in Beirut, and then the team, including hero Saif and heroine Katrina will travel to the border.

A source on the unit said, “There is no insurance cover for the production, but that’s how it is in a war zone. There is no concept of any indemnity as things can get unpredictable.”

However, Khan was adamant that the film would be shot at Syria-Lebanon border, to maintain authenticity. He had flown to Lebanon in July for a location recce, and zeroed in on the border area to shoot in.

This is not the first time Kabir will shoot in a conflict zone. His earlier film, ‘Kabul Express’ with John Abraham too was shot in sensitive locations in Afghanistan. So it is only evident that he is well aware of the logistical challenges posed by such a location.
