MUMBAI: Bollywood’s highest paid actress (as reports suggest!) and Bollywood’s serial kisser have been paired up together for the first time in a romantic drama. Yes, we’re talking about Kareena Kapoor Khan and Emraan Hashmi, who have signed a film together, finally!
The yet to be titled film is going to be produced Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji as well as Karan Johar’s Dharma productions. Bringing in a fresh feel, debut director Akshay Roy will wield the megaphone.
“At Dharma, we believe in launching young talent,” confirmed Karan. Ekta revealed very little about the film when she said, “The film is an urban take on love – it is quirky, edgy, dramatic and intense.”
CEO of Balaji Motion Pictures, Tanuj Garg tweeted, “For those asking, the untitled Balaji-Dharma romantic drama is taking off in September. Starring Emraan Hashmi & Kareena.”
Interestingly, earlier in 2012 when there were reports of Karan and Ekta joining hands to produce a film, casting Kareena and Emraan, buzz suggested that Kareena ultimately turned down the offer.
A source had then said, “Kareena felt she wouldn’t be too comfortable working with Emraan, given his image. Although he has been on a golden run lately, his popularity as Bollywood’s Serial Kisser and the bad boy hero of small-budget films could have made Kareena refuse the film.”
But looks like the Begum of Pataudi has finally given in. We hear that the script also requires a supporting actress, who the filmmakers are on the hunt for.
This untitled project will be Emraan Hashmi’s second movie with Karan’s Dharma Productions after ‘Unglee’ set to hit screens on September 6, 2013.
