MUMBAI: Director Ram Gopal Varma was once one of the foremost directors in Bollywood. Known for his hard-hitting stuff, he gave many audience members respite from the Bollywood formula.
Instrumental in many of Ram Gopal Varma’s films were the women in his films. He, at times, introduced new heroines, and sometimes, gave them the role of their life. He introduced Antara Mali and Jiah Khan to the industry, and gave Urmila Matondkar the role of her life in ‘Rangeela’.
Now the director is going through a slump, but with ‘Satya 2’, he is touching upon his 1998 blockbuster. Also, he introduces Anaika Soti.
Will Anaika Soti be lucky for the maverick director?
Anaika Soti was apparently approached by Ram Gopal Varma at a party, and was asked by him whether she would like to act in films? She initially didn’t want to as she came from a family that was into construction and diamond trading. But once she came to know that the film in question was a continuation to ‘Satya’, she was in.
“’Satya’ is one of my favourite movies and I knew ‘Satya 2’ would become another landmark film,” she said.
That’s not all. Anaika Soti has been signed on by director Vasanthabalan for a Telugu film called ‘Kaaviyan Thalaivan’ which will release in 2014.
It is to be seen whether ‘Satya 2’ will be a winner for everyone involved. Let’s see what luck Anaika Soti brings for both Ram Gopal Varma and herself.
