MUMBAI: Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma’s performance at the recently concluded MTV Music Video Awards was called off abruptly by the police, reports say.

We hear that Anushka Sharma’s dance performance was one of the major attractions of the night, and when it was tersely halted fans were left disappointed.

An eyewitness, who was present at the venue, spotted a few policemen entering the grounds when the awards ceremony was half complete. Soon after, the law enforcers were seen pulling out wires from the mouthpieces and the speakers.

“It was around 10 pm when the cops came in and lowered the volume from the console,” says the eyewitness.

An insider from the event mangement team revealed, “When all of this was taking place there were four primary awards left to be given away and Anushka was supposed to perform as well.”

The evening began with Bollywood actor-filmmaker-singer Farhan Akhtar’s performance. He was followed by the famous bhangra hip-hop band RDB and Indian rapper Honey Singh.

An MTV official on condition of anonymity assures, “The program was not for the public. It was being recorded for the channel. So every performance will be there when it airs on TV.”

MTV India, EVP and Business Head Adtiya Swamy chose not to comment on the matter.
