Shah Rukh Khan And Akshay Kumar To Battle It Out At The Box Office!

Now It’s Going To Be Akshay Kumar Versus Shah Rukh Khan At The Box-Office

The year of 2017 started with a major box-office clash – Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees and Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil. Seems like this was not the only big clash of the year. This Independence Day, it’s going to be Akshay Kumar versus King Khan.

Akshay Kumar’s Toilet Ek Prem Katha also starring Bhumi Pednekar and SRK-Anuskha Sharma’s untitled film directed by Imitaz Ali are set to release on the same day, August 11, 2017!

Akshay Kumar was the first to announce Independence 2017 as the release date for his film ‘Crack’ to be directed by Neeraj Pandey. However, it was only when Akshay announced his four films of the year, ‘Jolly LLB 2’, ‘2.0’, ‘Toilet- Ek Prem Katha’ and ‘Padman’ did it become evident that ‘Crack’ won’t be releasing this year.

Shah Rukh later announced the same release date for the Imtiaz Ali untitled directorial. Just when SRK would have thought he finally had a solo release, ‘Toilet- Ek Prem Katha’, which was earlier slated for a June 2 release, will now release on August 11 too given that it is an extended weekend!!

This Independence clash happened in 2016 as well when Akshay Kumar’s ‘Rustom’ released along with Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Mohenjo Daro’. Akshay Kumar is surely out there to claim Independence Day as his day of release.

This is not the first time Akshay Kumar and Shah Rukh will be clashing at the box-office. In 2004, Yash Chopra’s ‘Veer Zara’ starring SRK along with Preity Zinta and Rani Mukerji clashed with Abbas-Mustan’s ‘Aitraaz’ starring Akshay, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Priyanka Chopra. ‘Veer Zaara’ did better at box-office than ‘Aitraaz’.

Not just that, in 2006 it had happened again. SRK’s ‘Don 2’ and ‘Jaan-E-Mann’ starring Salman Khan, Akshay and Preity released on the same day.

Seems like SRK and Akki fighting it out at the box-office has happened before. The clash was avoided between SRK’s ‘Chennai Express’ and Akshay’s ‘Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai Dobaara’ in 2012.

Will the change in date happen again? Will either stars move the release date of their film? Or will it be another big clash at box-office?

Stay tuned for more updates.
