SPOTTED: ‘Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola’ Imran Khan, Anushka Sharma Turn RJs!

The cast of ‘Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola’, Bollywood actors Imran Khan and Anushka Sharma, took to promoting their upcoming release on the radio waves.

[imagebrowser id=223]MUMBAI: Bollywood surely has seen some innovative, wacky promotional campaigns in the past few years. Right from Aamir Khan’s ‘Ghajini’ and ‘3 Idiots’ days, we have witnessed certain eclectic marketing campaigns for films. And Vishal Bhardwaj’s latest, ‘Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola’ starring Imran Khan and Anushka Sharma, proves to be no exception to this trend.

The driving force of this marketing campaign, as we have revealed previously, centers around the pink buffalo named ‘Gulabo’.

This time around, the cast of ‘Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola’ took to promoting their upcoming release on the radio waves. The station they chose was Radio City and Red FM, and the stars were very eager to interact with their radio audiences. Though radio is a medium of sound, not sight, the stars of ‘Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola’ took care to look good.

Anushka, the female lead who portrays the character of ‘Bijlee’ in the film, chose a light nude pink high-street label top and a pair of skinnies. Imran channeled the inner chocolate boy hero in himself, and was seen in a blue tee and jeans; very yuppie, very cool!

The duo spoke about all things that went into the making of ‘Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola’, and how could the Radio City RJ’s have let them go without alluding to ‘Gulabo’, the adorable pink buffalo that is generating all the buzz for the film? Rest assured, Imran and Anushka spoke at length about ‘Gulabo’, and their experience of filming with greats like Pankaj Kapoor and their director, Vishal Bhardwaj.

Imran was somewhat queasy and hesitant, as he felt the film deals with a taboo subject, and that people will find a way to create a controversy around the film. “It’s a very taboo subject. Not controversial but people can find a way to make it controversial. I’ll tell you what will happen, one week before the release someone will find a way to make it controversial, someone or the other will get offended, just see” the 29-year-old revealed at the radio station.

His co-star Anushka Sharma chimed in, affirming his apprehension, “It is what it is.”

Anushka further added how the role of Bijlee was quite challenging for her. “For me the role was difficult to play because of the way I am, I say whatever I think. But Bijlee is somebody who holds her emotions and her thoughts to herself. She portrays an image that is not maybe who she is. So I think that was a little difficult,” revealed the 24- year old actress.

‘Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola’ releases on 11th January, 2013.
