MUMBAI: It was yet another starry wedding in B’town. This time, it was filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s sister Mahek, who tied the knot with fashion designer Navin Shetty over the weekend in Mumbai.
And as was expected, we spotted the who’s who of Bollywood at the reception party, who came to give their blessings to the newlyweds. This of course, was due to the fact that Rohit’s friends in Bollywood are some of the biggest names.
Among the leading superstars, we caught India’s finest actor ‘Shehenshah’ Amitabh Bachchan, who was punctual as ever and was one of the first guests to arrive. We spotted the veteran actor in a crisp black suit, with his reading glasses perched firmly upon the bridge of his nose.
The warring factions of Bollywood; i.e. superstars Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn and Shah Rukh Khan, were all spotted under one roof during the reception.
Ajay Devgn’s proximity to Rohit Shetty is, of course, a known fact in Bollywood. Onlookers were also not surprised to see Shah Rukh, present at the reception. SRK was an obvious attendee, as the two are starting a new film together, ‘Chennai Express’ and they have become firm friends over the past few months. The surprise element was Akshay Kumar, whom many were not expecting to see at the wedding.
The superstar triumvirate, Akshay, Ajay and Shah Rukh, all chose black and shades of grey, for the function.
Akshay was seen in a grey formal shirt and black trousers, with his bulging muscles on full display. Ajay chose a comfortable black Pathani kurta, an outfit we have seen him favouring over the past few weeks, during ‘Son of Sardar’ promotions. And Shah Rukh was spotted in a sharp dark grey designer three-piece suit, complete with black tie.
The many stars and celebrities were present to wish the beautiful couple, Mahek and Navin Shetty for the beginning of their journey together as man and wife.
We also spotted Suniel Shetty, Mukesh Tiwari (a staple funny man in all Rohit Shetty films), veteran star Prem Chopra and Abhishek Bachchan, who has seen his career’s biggest hit in a Rohit Shetty production ‘Bol Bachchan’.
Rohit played gracious host for the evening, and was even the wedding planner for all the functions.
He looked stylish in a black bandhgala. The couple themselves looked regal in traditional Indian attire, and were seen enjoying their special evening with loved ones.
We wish the lovely couple a happy married life!
