The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) on Sunday announced Bollywood actor Salman Khan as the goodwill ambassador of the national contingent for the Rio Olympics. While Salman was appointed as the ambassador, many sports icon criticized the move and one of them was 2012 London Olympics bronze medalist Yogeshwar Dutt.
The IOA announced its decision at its headquarters on Saturday where Bollywood actor Salman Khan, boxer M.C. Mary Kom, Indian men’s hockey team captain Sardar Singh and several other Indian sports person were present.
Questioning on Salman Khan’s contribution to sports in India, Yogeshwar Dutt also criticised the IOA’s decision saying that sports icons like Milkha Singh and P.T. Usha would have been better choices to appoint as brand ambassador. He took to his twitter handle asking the purpose of a brand ambassador and that stop fooling the people of this country.
Not naming Salman Khan directly, Yogeshwar Dutt also accused the actor saying that this is not the right platform to promote the film Sultan. “Kahi bhi ja Kar apni movie ka promotion kare, Es desh me adhikar hai Lekin Olympic movie promotion ki jagah Nahi,” he tweeted.
Well, the criticism started from the event itself after Salman Khan arrived one hour late. A man tweeted jokingly saying that the delay was due to AAP government’s Odd-Even scheme.
Well, this clearly annoyed Salman Khan’s fans and they immediately questioned and slammed the Olympic bronze medalist Yogeshwar Dutt.
