BOX OFFICE: ‘ABCD’ Dances To A Steady First Weekend

A movie still from 'AnyBody Can Dance'

MUMBAI: UTV Motion Pictures’ ‘Anybody Can Dance’ or ‘ABCD’, which is directed by choreographer Remo D’Souza, has managed to garner decent opening weekend business at the box office.

The film, which stars choreographers Prabhu Deva, Ganesh Acharya, Terence Lewis and dancer Salman Yusuf Khan in the lead roles, has picked up the pace on its second and third day.

‘ABCD’, which is Remo D’Souza’s directorial debut, had seen a soft start on Day 1 with a figure of Rs 45 million (Rs 4.5 crore) net.

Day 2 and day 3 were harbingers of good news for ‘ABCD’, with the film garnering Rs 61 million (Rs 6.10 crore) net and Rs 72.5 million (Rs 7.25 crore) net on Saturday and Sunday respectively. Which brings the 3 day total of ‘ABCD’ up to Rs 178.5 million (Rs 17.85 crore) net.

Since this is a small budget film, with no major stars (with the exception of Prabhu Deva), plus the film caters to a niche market, the collections garnered so far at the ticketing windows are quite fair.
