MUMBAI: T-Series and Vishesh Films’ ‘Aashiqui 2’, directed by Mohit Suri has had a decent first weekend at the box office. The film features stars Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor in leading roles, and is a sequel to the 1990 super hit cult classic ‘Aashiqui’.
‘Aashiqui 2’ has done fair business in its opening weekend. As reported, on Day 1, ‘Aashiqui 2’ managed to garner close to Rs 60 million (Rs 6 crore) net.
Saturday and Sunday fared slightly better, with collections of approximately Rs 66.3 million (Rs 6.63 crore) and Rs 75 million (Rs 7.5 crore) net respectively. As on Day 1, over the weekend too, mass areas did better business than metros.
The 3 day total of ‘Aashiqui 2’ is in the range of Rs 201.3 million (Rs 20.13 crore) net.
The other film which released this weekend, Hollywood’s ‘Iron Man 3’ usurped the first position in multiplexes of Mumbai and Delhi. SEE REPORT
