MUMBAI: Madhur Bhandarkar’s romantic comedy Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji starring Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi and Omi Vaidya has done a net business of approximately Rs 40 million (Rs 4 crore) on its opening day at the box office.
While the opening day collections were below expectations, the movie’s performance on Saturday and Sunday is critical for it to get a good opening weekend number. Since the movie’s reviews have been positive, it is likely that it will help in garnering footfalls at theaters.
On the other hand, Kiran Rao’s directorial debut – Dhobi Ghat has done net business of approximately Rs 130 million in its opening week. As was reported by Businessofcinema.com, the opening weekend collections of the film were Rs 88 million (Rs 8.8 crore) and the movie saw a drop at the box office from Monday but the Republic Day holiday helped bring in the numbers.
