Katy Perry Performs At PEPSI Super Bowl XLIX

Its Katy Perry time again!

She called it the biggest and most ambitious event of her career. Critics however opined that her performance was quite flat and missed the desired bling required in such a high profile, energy bursting occasion!

On 1st February 2015, as Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots spiced up the heat at PEPSI Super Bowl XLIX held at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, Katy Perry’s half time performance started on a high note. Perry appeared on top of innovative props like a pseudo-tessellated mechanical lion, among a sea of dancing chess pieces and attached to a shooting star hoisted high above the field. During her twelve minutes on the stadium, she presented some of her best hits including the Roar, Dark Horse (without rapper Juicy J), California Gurls, Firework and had three wardrobe changes.

Her performance has been mainly criticized for hurdling in too many songs within the brief time and for multiple costume changes which felt unnecessary! She also sang I Kissed a Girl, in a duet with Lenny Kravitz, who opened the song. Perry’s second guest, the rapper Missy Elliott, presented three hits — Get Ur Freak On, Work It and Lose Control adding to the enthusiasm on stage.

Super Bowl XLIX was won by New England Patriots by defeating the Seattle Seahawks with a score of 28-24, and this is their fourth Super Bowl title. 2016 is waiting to witness on the same stage, the performance of Katy’s nemesis, Taylor Swift!
