It’s Official! Dwayne Johnson Confirms Jumanji Reboot

Dwayne Jhonson[tps_footer]Hollywood has been trying to reboot a lot of classic movies lately. With ‘Ghostbusters’ and ‘The Mummy’ movies on their way, it is obvious a lot more of such cult classics will be made in future. Adding to the list reboots is ‘Jumanji’. You heard it right! The 1995 adventure comedy classic is being remade.

The news first broke when Sony Pictures released the titles and release dates of its upcoming movies back in 2015. It was supposed to have late actor Robin Williams in it and was supposed to be released on Christmas 2016. But, with Robin’s sad demise it felt like the project was scrapped.

On Friday, April 22, the news came out that ‘Jumanji’ reboot is officially happening and it stars everyone’s favourite actor Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. Dwayne took to his Instagram account to announce this huge news. Along with his dog, he posted a picture confirming the news and announcing the release date as well. He also made a promise that the film will be made with complete authenticity and they will deliver something cool and special. This is what he wrote:

It’s OFFICIAL: Love this script! Big movie news that me and my canine gal Shang are excited to share;) To produce, create and deliver original properties to fans like HBO’s #ballers to this summer’s #CentralIntelligence is one of the best parts of my job. But to take great properties that are beloved worldwide like #BAYWATCHand #RAMPAGE and have the opportunity reimagine their stories in the dope new ways to a whole new generation is truly an honor.

It’s official. We’ll produce and deliver to a whole new generation a title that I love and is one of my all time favs:
There’s games you play for fun…then there’s games that change your life. JUMANJI
Working on edging up an already very good script with my @sevenbucksprod team. Up next is meeting with our producer Matt Tolmach and director Jake Kasdan. Shooting starts this fall. Promise to deliver something cool and special.. and not screw the whole damn thing up;). As always I’ll keep you posted. Casting this should be fun! ”

Not much has been revealed about the plot or whether they will be any kind of changes in the film.

The original 1995 movie starred Robin Williams, Kirsten Dunst, David Alan GrierBonnie HuntJonathan Hyde and Bebe Neuwirth. The original story presented a tale of two kids who find a magical board game and play it. They accidently release a man trapped in it for decades and a lot of dangerous take place and it can only be stopped when they finish the game.

We will just have to wait and find out who the cast will be and what storyline will it follow. However, there is now a July 28, 2017, slated release date. Dwayne is currently filming ‘Baywatch’ film which is a remake of TV series and is scheduled to be released next year.
