Christian ‘Dark Knight’ Bale arrested on assault charges

MUMBAI: Batman star Christian Bale was arrested on Tuesday in London on allegations of assault on his mother and sister.

He was later released on bail. However, Bale has denied allegations by his mother and sister that he assaulted them.

As per reports, the 34-year-old actor, who spent four hours at the police station, was not charged of any crime.

"Christian Bale attended a London police station today, on a voluntary basis, in order to assist with an allegation that had been made against him to the police by his mother and sister," an official statement from the actor’s publicist said.

"Mr. Bale, who denies the allegation, cooperated throughout, gave his account in full of the events in question and has left the station without any charge being made against him by the police," the statement added.

As per media reports, Bale’s mother – Jenny (61), and sister – Sharon (40) complained they were assaulted by him at the Dorchester Hotel in London on Sunday night, a day before the European premiere of The Dark Knight.

According to Britain’s Press Association news agency Bale’s mother and sister filed the complaint at a local police station in Southern England on Monday. The allegation was then passed on to the Metropolitan Police in London.

As per a report in The Sun, the police didn’t question the actor on Monday as they didn’t want to interfere with the premiere of the movie.
