Charlize slated to play White Jazz lead

MUMBAI: Charlize Theron is currently the frontrunner to play the female lead in the L A Confidential sequel White Jazz, says www.Hollywood.tv founder Sheeraz Hasan.

Director Joe Carnahan wants the 2003 Academy award winner to play Glenda Bledsoe opposite George Clooney and Ray Liotta. White Jazz is an adaptation of James Ellroy’s novel concerning a corrupt LAPD lieutenant assigned to a high-profile case just as his notoriously debauched department is singled out for investigation.

The film is being produced by Clooney in collaboration with his Good Night, and Good Luck partner Grant Heslov, say reports. White Jazz is the fourth and final instalment of author Ellroy’s popular LA quartet series of crime novels (which also includes LA Confidential, The Big Nowhere and The Black Dahlia).

The original 1997 movie earned Kim Basinger an Oscar for Best Supporting actress.
