Despicable Me tops at box office; Twilight Saga at second spot

MUMBAI: Universal Pictures’ new release Despicable Me stood tall at the international box office this past weekend with gross collections of $60.11 million. Summit Entertainment’s third Twilight movie – The Twilight Saga – Eclipse was second on the charts with weekend collections of $33.35 million. The movie has so far done a cumulative business of $237 million.

20th Century Fox’s Predators, which also opened this week saw the third highest collections this weekend with $25.30 million at the box office. On the other hand, Disney’s Toy Story 3, which has so far done a business of $340.24 millon theatrically, was fourth in line this weekend with $22.02 million.

Paramount’s The Last Airbender directed by M Night Shyamalan, which stars Slumdog Millionaire star Dev Patel, did a business of $17.15 million at the box office this weekend and was in fifth spot. The movie’s total collections so far are $100.22 million.
