DISH Network, Disney ink VoD movie deal

MUMBAI: EchoStar Communications Corporation and its DISH NetworkTM satellite TV service has inked an agreement with Disney’s Buena Vista Video-On-Demand to carry current and catalog movie titles from The Walt Disney Studios on its Video On Demand platform, DISH On Demand, as well as through its Pay-Per-View services.


“By combining the latest and most popular programming on DISH On Demand with the functionality and technology of our industry-leading digital video recorders, DISH Network customers will find multiple ways to enhance their viewing experience. The addition of feature films from The Walt Disney Studios now allows us to offer customers movies from seven out of nine major studios,” stated EchoStar vice president of programming Susan Arnold.


“We’re delighted to offer DISH Network customers popular movie titles nationwide such as Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest and Invincible, as well as Touchstone Pictures’ Déjà vu. We look forward to our partnership with EchoStar, as well as working with them to make their DISH On Demand service a great success,” stated Buena Vista Television executive vice president, pay television and interactive media Dan Cohen.
