EMI Music appoints Bertrand Bodson as SVP, global digital marketing

MUMBAI: EMI Music has appointed Bertrand Bodson as senior vice president, global digital marketing.

 

Bodson is a co-founder of Bragster.com, which was acquired by Guinness World Records earlier this year, as part of its online expansion plan. He also launched and ran Amazon.com’s DVD rental and subscription businesses in Europe.

 

At EMI Music, he will be responsible for leading and developing the company’s global digital marketing strategy, reporting to Ernesto Schmitt, the company’s president of central marketing and of its catalogue division. He starts work at EMI on 7 June and will be based at the company’s headquarters in London.

 

Schmitt said, “Bertrand will be a great addition to our marketing team. He has operated in the digital space for most of his career, he is entrepreneurial and he has a strong track record of developing leading edge digital strategies and tools.”

 

Meanwhile Syd Schwartz, formerly EMI Music North America’s SVP of digital strategy, has moved into a consultancy role with the company. Bodson said, “I’m delighted to be joining EMI with its extraordinary history of great music and innovation. This is a fascinating industry where there is still more to be invented. The team at EMI have built an environment that lends itself to corporate entrepreneurship and I can’t wait to start working with them.”

 

Bertrand Bodson co-founded Bragster.com in 2006 and was a director there until the company was acquired by Guinness World Records in February, 2010.
