Francis Keeling made VP-digital at Universal Music Group

MUMBAI: Francis Keeling has been promoted to vice president, digital, at Universal Music Group International (UMGI).

He will report to UMGI senior vice president, digital Rob Wells. Keeling was previously head of commercial, digital, at Universal Music UK, which he joined in 2002.

In his new post, based in London, Keeling will be responsible for managing UMGI’s commercial relationships with various business partners, including its ongoing discussions with ISPs about new music services.

Wells said, “Our international digital business has been the industry standard over the past three years, which is largely thanks to the team which works here. This appointment reflects the excellent business contributions Francis has made, including a key role in developing our partnerships with Nokia, BSkyB and Orange. His promotion is well-deserved.”

Keeling added, “With our incredible roster of artists, Universal Music is in a unique position to drive the thirst for digital music. I am very excited to continue working with new and existing business partners to unlock the potential for the industry at this challenging time.”
