Hollywood Records to release CD from Dancing with the Stars’ Ballas and Hough

MUMBAI: Hollywood Records will release BHB, the debut from the Ballas Hough Band on 10 March. The band, which features “Dancing with the Stars” fan favorites Mark Ballas and Derek Hough, recorded the album with producers John Fields (Jonas Brothers), Eric Valentine (Maroon 5, Good Charlotte) and Adam & Andy (Jesse McCartney). The Ballas Hough Band will kick off a 10 week residency at The Grove in Los Angeles. The free shows start on Tuesday, 10 March  and following each Tuesday’s night taping of Dancing with The Stars through 12 May.

The band’s line-up features Ballas and Hough on vocals and guitar, Emily Grace on keyboards and vocals, bassist Sam Marder and drummer Harry Sullivan. In addition to their own originals, the album features collaborations with songwriters Dan Wilson, Kevin Kadish and Marty James on several tracks. Lead single Do It For You was co-written by new American Idol  judge Kara DioGuardi, Marty James and Ari Levine, and mixed by Serban Ghenea (Justin Timberlake, Mary J. Blige, Kelly Clarkson, NERD).

Ballas Hough Band made their national television debut performing Do It For You 5 February  on Good Morning America as part of GMA’s Winter Concert Series. They also recently talked about the new album and performed their single on The Bonnie Hunt Show.

About the band, Hough says, "I’m sure that people’s first reaction to us will be, ‘These dancing guys think they can play guitar now?’ But then the guys — who were probably dragged out by their girlfriends — will come up to us and say, ‘Man, you guys can play.’ Eventually, people will come to know that we can shred on guitar, rip on the bass, that our drummer had a scholarship to Berklee College of Music, that our piano player is trained as well as any Julliard graduate, and that we’re five kids who’ve grown up together and know each other inside and out, and have been playing together for years."

Ballas and Hough recently wrapped up a U.S. tour with Dancing with the Stars. After almost every show, the duo regrouped with the Ballas Hough Band for local club shows, during which they preview select songs from their debut CD.

Following season 9 of  Dancing with the Stars, the Ballas Hough Band will embark on a summer tour across the U.S.
