Mexican piracy raids yield CD-Rs cache

MUMBAI: The Mexican police recently seized over 130,000 CD-Rs in an anti piracy operation in the district of Tepito in Mexico City.

During the week long operation, a squad of 350 police officers, 120 special agents from the investigations bureau AFIS and 20 prosecutors launched raids against nine laboratories and 16 warehouses across the district. The raids also netted 232 CD-R/DVD-R burners and 200,000 counterfeit inlay cards, say reports.

The Tepito flea market is infamours for rampant music and film piracy, and experts say the raids have provided a much needed dampener.
