MGM and Lakeshore book Asher Book for Fame

Mumbai: Lakeshore Entertainment and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) Pictures confirmed Asher Book as the final addition to the cast of Fame, a reinvention of the Oscar-winning film from director Kevin Tancharoen. The joint announcement was made by producer and Lakeshore Entertainment chairman & CEO Tom Rosenberg and MGM Worldwide Motion Picture Group chairman Mary Parent.

Inspired by the 1980 film, Fame follows the education of a group of dancers, singers, actors and artists over four years of tribulation and triumph at the prestigious New York City High School of Performing Arts. Book will play Marco, a charismatic singer from a working class Italian-American family whose vocal skill is matched by his prowess with the opposite sex. "Book brings an exciting strength as an actor and invaluable experience as a performer to the ensemble," said Parent.

Vice President of production Becky Sloviter is overseeing the film for MGM. Fame opens in theaters on 25 September, 2009.

Book is represented by Cunningham Escott Slevin & Doherty, Manager Bryan Leder of Management 101 and attorney Bob Myman of Myman Abel Fineman Fox Greenspan Light.
