MIPTV gathers talent from four corners of the world

MUMBAI: International talent from four continents is heading to Cannes later this month, to take part in the entertainment content market MIPTV.

Charlie Hunnam, who plays Jackson “Jax” Teller in the FX Network series Sons of Anarchy will be at MIPTV courtesy of Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution, which handles international distribution for the series.

Hunnam will attend The International Digital Emmy Awards (IDEA) to co-present an International Digital Emmy Award in the ‘Digital program – Fiction’ category with Nigerian recording artist Asa, on 30 March. The Nigerian singer is attending MIPTV to celebrate HiTV Nigeria’s music channel on 1 April. Her debut album is an international success.

Also presenting an International Digital Emmy Award will be Al Jazeera Children’s Channel Gretta Al Rayess and Said Serhan. The duo co-present the game show Addarb, one of the most famous and successful children’s TV programmes in the Arab World. Addarb is a dynamic game show, where two teams of contestants (girls and boys) have to answer general knowledge questions and succeed in physical challenges. Gretta Al Rayess and Said Serhan will present an International Digital Emmy Award to the winner of the “Children & Young People” category.

The Jim Henson Company, creators of The Muppets, will arrive at MIPTV with their new star, Buddy, the Tyrannosaurus Rex from the CGI animated series Dinosaur Train, co-produced with Singapore’s BIG Communications and with the assistance of the Singapore Media Development Authority. The costumed character of Buddy will be in Cannes on 30 March.

Two of Singapore’s hottest celebrities and Media Corp artists, Qi Yuwu and Jeanette Aw, stars of the drama series The Little Nyonya, will be appearing at MIPTV 2009 on 31 March..

Australian actors Rodger Corser and Ashley Zukerman will be heading to Cannes to promote Southern Stars’ new prime time drama series Rush.

This star line up joins previously announced actor and executive producer William Petersen from the US series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, who is attending MIPTV to celebrate the show’s status as the world’s most watched show on behalf of CBS Paramount International Television.
