MiT selects Barco projectors for digital cinema funding program

MUMBAI: Digital Cinema company Barco announced that Fountain Valley, California-based MiT (Moving image Technologies) has selected Barco as the preferred digital cinema projector supplier for a new financing program targeted at enhancing the buying power for small to medium-sized theatre owners.

MiT, a manufacturer and digital cinema integrator, has teamed up with Brea, California-based All Media Capital in order to assist theatre owners desiring to move into the digital and 3D projection realm. With the ability to pool resources and secure lease financing and bulk purchases, the program offers a financing alternative to the independent exhibitor.

In addition to Barco’s image quality and reliability, the ability to cover the full range of screen sizes was a key factor in their selection as a preferred vendor. Specifically, Barco’s DP-1200 and DP-1500 digital cinema projectors are ideally suited for small and mid-sized exhibitors — covering screen sizes from 40 feet (12m) to 49 feet (15m) respectively. These two projectors complement Barco’s DP-2000 and DP-3000 models, which are designed for mid-to-large size venues. In conjunction with Dolby Digital Cinema, Dolby 3D, Real D, XPandD and Master Image, each Barco projector is 3D ready, with the ability to switch from 2D to 3D digital projection modes in moments.

MiT vice president sales and marketing Joe Delgado said, “Small and medium-size exhibitors who want to take advantage of 3D, now have a viable path for implementing digital cinema. We’re offering an opportunity to bring together those theatres who want to deploy a 3D option. As opposed to each exhibitor individually purchasing one or two units, we’re facilitating a position of volume with orders at significant savings.”

By combining MiT’s experience in integrating digital and 3D systems with All Media Capital’s industry expertise and their ability to secure financing in tough economic climates, the advantage is a package based on equipment leasing, where the technology serves as the collateral. “They know our industry and together, we can offer maintenance agreements, up-training, remote monitoring, diagnostics and alerts, extended warranties, and more — all the while tapping into a network of Barco and Dolby-certified installers,” continued Delgado.

“At Barco, we’re extremely pleased to participate with MiT as the preferred Digital Cinema vendor in this special financing program that supports the independent theater owner. By taking advantage of this financed opportunity, the independent theater owner can realize all the benefits of digital cinema, including 3D and alternative content projection, as well as having the finest picture available on screen using Barco projectors,” said Barco Digital Cinema activities North America  director of sales Joe DeMeo.
