mSpot & Sony Music Entertainment ink customizable ringtone deal

MUMBAI: mSpot, Inc. a mobile music and entertainment company, has signed a distribution agreement with Sony Music Entertainment to add the company’s catalog to mSpot’s current collection, which now includes more than 400,000 song titles. The addition of Sony Music Entertainment’s catalog makes mSpot’s customizable ringtone offering one of the largest in North America.

mSpot’s customers will now be able to access the new Sony Music Entertainment titles through the mSpot Make-UR-Tones mobile application available on AT&T, Sprint and Verizon. The application allows customers to select full-track songs and use an intuitive editor to create customized ringtones.

“We are thrilled to partner with Sony Music Entertainment – and with access to so many new titles from the label’s incredible roster, we have a feeling our customers will be too. This partnership bolsters our strong position in the mobile music industry and advances our mission to offer innovative and entertaining services that consumers love,” said mSpot CEO Daren Tsui.

“With access to a broad customer base and active music fan users, mSpot is a natural partner for us as we continue to expand the reach of our diverse musical offerings in the mobile arena,” said Sony Music Entertainment president, global digital business, US sales, corporate strategy Thomas Hesse.

The addition of Sony Music Entertainment completes mSpot’s plan to offer customizable ringtones from all four major music labels including EMI, Universal Music and Warner Music. mSpot also offers customizable ringtones from indie labels Ingrooves and IRIS.
