Mumbai: Viacom’s MTV Networks (MTVN) announced that it streamed more than 57 million mobile videos across all its brands and carriers between February 2007 and February 2008, representing 94% growth over the year prior. The record growth capped off a year in which MTVN cemented its standing as the world’s largest provider of mobile video, with more than 100 days of mobile video content available globally.

"In record numbers, our fans are turning to their phones for engaging entertainment experiences, and finding MTV Networks video, mobile websites, games, widgets and more that connect with nearly every conceivable demo, on any occasion," said MTVN executive vice president, digital distribution and business development Greg Clayman. "We want to empower our consumers to go deep with our content on every platform, and with that in mind we continue to build a mobile portfolio with breadth and depth unrivalled in the industry."

All of MTVN’s brands experienced strong growth in mobile video, even as they achieved tremendous momentum across mobile websites, participation TV campaigns, games and more.

MTV continues to be the premiere destination for music on mobile, recording 17 million mobile video streams in the past year, half of which were music videos.

MTVN’s mobile websites sites have attracted a combined 21 million page views in the past year, as they continued to grow traffic by 75% each month.

As audiences flock to MTVN’s mobile offerings, the company also continues to integrate the mobile experience with its hit on-air franchises through participation TV campaigns.

THQ Wireless Inc., in partnership with Nickelodeon, successfully launched SpongeBob’s Atlantis Treasures this past year across all major mobile carriers. This launch continues the success of SpongeBob mobile games with combined cumulative sell through of over 2.5 million units.
