MUMBAI: Social.FM, a social music service for mobile and web users, and Handmark, a global leader in the development and distribution of mobile media, announced a strategic distribution agreement whereby Handmark will market and deliver Social.FM through its global channels.
As a result of this partnership, wireless customers in the US, Canada and Europe will have immediate access to an immersive social music experience directly from their mobile devices.
Social.FM allows wireless customers to enjoy their favorite music anytime, anywhere, directly from their mobile phones. Social.FM is the only social music service which leverages user-contributed content, social discovery and recommendations, and 3G-optimized media streaming to deliver the ultimate music experience across the mobile and web environments.
"Handmark is a recognized leader in applications and services for a mobile generation, so it makes sense that Social.FM chose Handmark as our mobile application partner," said Social.FM president and CEO Srivats Sampath.
"Within the next several months, we shall release a series of innovative social media services that will fundamentally transform the way that wireless customers discover, enjoy and share social media on their advanced multimedia handsets," he added.
Within the next quarter, Social.FM will be made available within select Handmark distribution channels including US mobile operators like on-device client and web portals, as well as both Handmark and operator branded desktop and on-device stores. Handmark distribution also includes on-device and web-based e-stores in Europe through relationships with major device manufacturers. Social.FM will receive rominent placement within Handmark distribution channels.
