MUMBAI: Universal Music Group International (UMGI) has appointed Andrew Kronfeld as executive vice president International Marketing. The appointment was announced on 23 November by UMGI executive vice president Max Hole, to whom he will report.

Kronfeld is currently Universal Motown Records general manager.  He will take up his new post in early 2010.

Hole said, "Andrew is a great executive and a great music man.  No one is better qualified to continue and enhance our unbeatable track record of driving hits around the world and breaking new artists of all music genres."

"Andrew is the consummate marketing executive, he literally lives and breathes it. So when this great opportunity opened, we all thought that it was tailor-made for his skill set," commented Universal Motown Records president Sylvia Rhone. "We are delighted that he has accepted the position and wish him the very best in this new role within our company."

In his new post, Kronfeld will oversee the scheduling, promotion and marketing of all Universal Music Group International’s releases worldwide.  He will also be responsible for Cooperative Music, the independent labels network, and Spinefarm Records, the rock label.

Kronfeld commented:  "I am truly grateful to Max for this opportunity, and certainly, to Mel Lewinter and Sylvia for an incredible experience at Universal Motown.  Having worked closely with Max, I have experienced firsthand the incredible level of quality and excellence that he and Lucian Grainge (UMGI chairman & CEO,) have established.  So when this unique opportunity arose, it became difficult to turn down."
