Walt Disney’s Wiertz joins Sony Pictures

MUMBAI: Erica Wiertz has been named executive director of employee communications at Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE). The announcement was made by SPE senior executive vice president and chief administrative officer Beth Berke.

Wiertz, who reports to Suzanne Criley, executive vice president for Corporate Administration, will help develop internal communications programs for SPE employees working in 74 countries around the world.

“Sony Pictures is becoming an increasingly global company, and we must ensure that communications across our divisions and around the world are timely, accurate and useful for all our employees. Erica brings to SPE a great track record of experience in employee communications on a worldwide scale,” said Berke.

“I am thrilled to be a part of the Sony Pictures family. It is an exciting time to capture both the rich legacy of the studio and to enhance the connection our employees feel to SPE’s culture, vision, values, and plans for the future. I look forward to advancing the company’s internal communications strategy to increase employee engagement across all areas of the business,” said Wiertz.

Working with Berke, Criley and SPE’s employee communications team, Wiertz will be involved in designing global communications initiatives; marketing employee services; showcasing internal success stories; and leveraging technology to strengthen internal communications efforts.

She will also provide external communications support to Jim Kennedy, senior vice president for corporate communications.

Wiertz comes to SPE from The Walt Disney Company, where she served as communications manager for the Disney-ABC Television Group, ABC Owned Television Stations, and ABC Radio Division since 2005.
