Warner Bros signs World Films’ The Butcher

Mumbai: Warner Bros has finalized a deal with World Films, Inc. to release The Butcher, a dynamically acted explosive film, in northwest Europe this spring.

"The success of The Butcher has brought tremendous exposure to World Films’ productions establishing it as a rising star in this industry," states company executive producer and co-CEO Anthony V. Pugliese III. "We’ve already signed distribution deals with other high-profile studios including 20th Century Fox, Lions Gate Films, NBC/Universal and Metrodome allowing us to release The Butcher all throughout Europe and Australia."

The Butcher, written and directed by Jesse Johnson, tells the story of ex-prize fighter turned mob enforcer, Merle Hench, whose lifelong bad luck streak turns on a dime when he gets the girl, the cash and his redemption — all for a price. The film is led by Eric Roberts who is known for his stellar performances in Runaway Train and King of Gypsies and, recently, Batman-The Dark Knight as Gotham City Crime Boss Salvatore Maroni.

The Butcher stars Robert Davi, Keith David, Finnish actress Irina Bjorklund; and Michael Ironside.

In addition to the Warner Bros release of The Butcher in Benelux, the film is also being distributed globally by 20th Century Fox in Australia in March 2009 and Metrodome throughout the United Kingdom in spring 2009.

World Films, Inc. combines the most powerful components of studio class production values with successful motion picture distribution including an intimate understanding of entertainment that appeals to the broadest market with bottom-line oriented business strategies. World Films produces films with aesthetic and popular appeal propelling its ascent to major studio level success of global film distribution of DVD, cable, television and theatrical markets.
