Webber plans sequel to Phantom of the Opera

MUMBAI: Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber has said he will not work on another TV series after
Joseph : Any Dream Will Do, and plans to devote himself to writing a sequel to his hit musical Phantom Of The Opera.

Joseph came on the heels of How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? last year, reports www.Hollywood.tv founder Sheeraz Hasan. The musical sequel has been tentatively titled Phantom Of Broadway. “I need to get back to writing. I want to throw myself into it. Over the Easter weekend, I wrote the first song and I’m really pleased with it,” Hasan quotes Webber as saying.

Webber has also received offers from America, where TV networks want him to stage a theatrical reality show, particularly his Jesus Christ Superstar, says Hasan. “I’d love to do a search for Jesus, but the BBC couldn’t do that. It’s probably against editorial policy. I’d have to do it in America,” Webber says.

Meanwhile, Webber has already lined up Funny Girl for Connie Fisher, last year’s Maria winner, says Hasan. “She’d be great,” says Webber.
