MUMBAI: Will Gluck, the director and producer of Screen Gems’ smash hit Easy A and co-writer/director/producer of Screen Gems’ comedy Friends with Benefits, has entered into a 2-year development and production deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment covering both television and film across all of Sony’s banners, including Columbia Pictures, Screen Gems and Sony Pictures Television.
Sony Pictures Entertainment co-chairman Amy Pascal said, “Will is an extraordinary talent who has a unique comedic voice. He has now directed three films for us and each one was distinctive and contemporary. He writes and directs movies that are timeless, hilarious, engaging and disarming. Michael, Clint and I have loved working with him, and this deal will allow him to channel his energy in any creative direction he hopes to pursue.”
Sony Pictures Entertainment chairman and CEO Michael Lynton added, "Will is a tremendously talented writer and a director who has created several excellent films. We love what he did with Easy A and we believe audiences will be just as excited about Friends With Benefits. Both his writing and directing styles are fresh and authentic. We look forward to working with him for many years to come."
"Not only is Will one of the greatest filmmakers I have ever worked with, he is also a brilliant, hysterically funny storyteller. Having him call Sony home is the greatest compliment a filmmaker can offer. It says everything about the way we work together and the respect we have for each other," said Screen Gems president Culpepper.
Gluck added, “Sony has been an incredible home to me over the past few years. It’s a gratifying environment – you can’t ask for more than the chance to work with people who are so encouraging, smart and passionate about your projects. From film to television, their teams are absolutely the best in the business, and I’m proud and excited to continue to call Sony my home .”
Will Gluck is currently at work developing Sex on the Moon for Columbia Pictures and producers Scott Rudin, Dana Brunetti and Michael DeLuca. His next motion picture is Screen Gems’ Friends with Benefits, starring Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis.
