WPP CEO Sir Martin Sorrell to give keynote at MIPTV

MUMBAI: WPP Group chief executive officer advertising and marketing communications Sir Martin Sorrell, will give a keynote speech at MIPTV 2009 on the theme: "What screens will they watch – and what will be on them?" Other ad industry keynote speakers include Chuck Porter, Chairman of Crispin Porter + Bogusky MDC Partners, and Christophe Lambert, co-founder of the Blue agency, who will participate in a day dedicated to branded content and creativity on Tuesday, 31 March 2009.

"Professionals from the world of advertising and brands have been occupying an increasingly significant place at the MIP Markets. The way television will be created and consumed in the future will bring the TV, digital and advertising segments together far more coherently than in the past. All three segments must now look to becoming stronger partners in order to grow their business further and Sir Martin will clearly illustrate how this process will take place," said Reed MIDEM head of the Television Division Paul Johnson.

Sorrell founded WPP in 1985. Under his direction, WPP has become a world leader in advertising and marketing communications. WPP is present in 106 countries with more than 150 companies including several eminent international networks such as Ogilvy, Young & Rubicam, Grey, JWT and Group M.

Before founding WPP, Sorrel held a number of senior positions, including group finance director of the advertising agency group Saatchi & Saatchi, from 1977 to 1984, where he was instrumental in planning and implementing its international expansion.

On 31 March, the two keynotes on creativity and branded entertainment will come from Crispin Porter + Bogusky MDC Partners chairman Chuck Porter. Which is an American agency with accounts including Microsoft Zune, Mini Cooper and Burger King; and Blue co-founder Christophe Lambert.

These keynotes kick off the first Content 360 Creative Summit on the theme of Reinventing Storytelling, exploring new forms of digital and interactive media; and two events organized with the Berlin School of Creative Leadership, the Creativity for Effective Advertising breakfast and the Branded Entertainment lunch, which will provide a space for discussion between advertising and TV professionals.

Sorrell, Chuck Porter, Christophe Lambert and other advertising industry professionals in attendance at MIPTV will provide all participants with a new perspective on the content creation, production and distribution process but from an advertising perspective.

MIPTV runs in Cannes from 30 March to 3 April 2009.
