Akon arrives in India for two-city concert

MUMBAI: Senegalese-American singer, songwriter and producer, Akon has arrived in India for his two-city concert.

Akon addressed the mediaz at a press conference at Hotel Trident, BKC to throw light on the forthcoming Venky’s Akon Live In Concert Tour in India.

Akon will perform at Huda Grounds, Gurgaon on 16 April and Gayatri Vihar Palace Grounds, Bangalore on 17 April.

Netsurf Entertainment, in honour of the celebrated artist, donated Rs 5 lacs to Save The Children India as part of their humanitarian initiative.

It’s for the very first time that Akon will perform full scale concerts in the country. This is also the very first time that an artist of such stature – Grammy-nominated and multi-platinum artist whose worldwide sales top 7 million units – will celebrate his birthday, in India.

Akon will also be officially launching HITLAB.COM in English, Chinese and Hindi which is a part of HITLAB INC, a company that reinvents the way music is discovered, produced, marketed and sold where upcoming artists get discovered by having their music analyzed on the company’s website.

Akon said, "My latest album is inspired by the experiences that I enjoy overseas, where I wind up playing venues that often hold 50,000 to 100,000 people and conveying it to my fans across the nation. It has taken me almost two years and it is more straight street urban. The song Angel from the album is essentially about a person in your life who walks into a room and just lights it up. The song is probably my best to date and should light up the charts, the radio request airwaves and your life. India is a great audience. Everybody who comes to the show knows every word of every song and it feels great to be back here."
