AR Rahman’s Blue soundtrack bets big on digital in US, UK

MUMBAI: A.R. Rahman has teamed up with pop star Kylie Minogue in his first East/West collaboration since Slumdog Millionaire for the soundtrack of Blue, which hits major digital music stores in the US, UK, and Canada today.

Saavn worked in association with music label T-Series in order to make the music widely available across sites such as iTunes, Amazon.com, eMusic, Napster, Rhapsody, and Saavn.com. Minogue and Rahman collaborated on the soundtrack’s first release, Chiggy-Wiggy. All other tracks on the album are composed by Rahman.

Rahman said, "I was very excited when I heard about the digital release of the music. By working with Kylie, I was able to create something truly unique for fans – the music fuses the cultures of mainstream pop, Hindi, and Bhangra."

Blue is directed by Anthony D’Souza and is produced by Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision. It stars Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Kumar, Lara Dutta, Zayed Khan, Rahul Dev, and Katrina Kaif and is slated to release in Diwali.
