Community Radio Station launched in Ahmednagar

MUMBAI: The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India has signed a grant of permission agreement for establishing, maintaining and operating a community radio station at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Babhaleshwar, District Ahmednagar, and Maharashtra.

The Letter of Intent had been issued to the University on 2 January, 2008 after recommendations of Inter Ministerial Committee and seeking requisite clearances from various Ministries. The community radio station is expected to be operational within three months as per the agreement. With this, the number of CRS will increase to 44 in the country.

The community radio to be established at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Babhaleshwar is intended to further take the programmes and activities of KVK to wider farming community and replicate the success stories so that the benefit of information services increases the livelihood opportunities for the target community.
