Government allocates Rs 1.63 billion for 195 AIR stations

MUMBAI: The Indian government plans to set up 195 All India Radio (AIR) sub-stations across the country during the 11th Five Year Plan. The Government has allocated Rs 1.63 billion (Rs 163.90 crore) for setting up of these stations.

Additionally, a total of 50 new sub-stations will be set up in 18 states namely Andhra Pradesh (4), Arunachal Pradesh (5), Assam (3), Gujarat (1), Jharkhand (1), Madhya Pradesh (1), Maharashtra (2), Manipur (3), Meghalaya (1), Mizoram (3), Nagaland (3), Orissa (1), Punjab (2), Rajasthan (2), Tripura (4), Uttar Pradesh (4), Uttarakhand (6) and West Bengal (4).

Also 145 FM transmitters will be set up (100 in North East region and 45 in rest of the country).
