Prasoon Joshi turns composer with Prakash Jha’s Arakshan

MUMBAI: National Award winning lyricist Prasoon Joshi has added one more feather to his cap. Known for his amazing words, Joshi will now be seen displaying his musical talent as well.

Joshi has not only has written four songs for Prakash Jha’s next film Aarakshan, the music of which is by Shankar Ehsaan Loy, but for the very first time, he has also composed a song with the support of Shankar Mahadevan.

Joshi said, “Kaun Si  Dor is a wonderful song. The thought was to center it on a philosophical level but in a common man’s understanding. Often whilst writing a composition comes up in my head and whilst writing this song the composition just flowed through my mind. I bounced it off prakashji and Shankar and they too loved it. Shankar was graceful enough to keep this as part of the album and am genuinely thankful. Kaun si Dor comes at a poignant juncture in the film and am looking forward to the music of this film.”

Joshi further added, “Prakash Jha is an remarkable director, who does thoroughly researched films, which are very unique, strong narrative, original plots across different genres, piloting fresh trails, and commercially viable. He always encourages fresh and unique ideas. It indeed was an wonderful experience to work with him.”

Joshi’s song has been sung by classical vocalist Pandit Chunnual Misra. Starring Amitabh Bacchan, Saif Ali Khan, Manoj Bajpai and Deepika Padukone, Aarakshan is scheduled for release in August 2011.
