Radio City partners with Music Academy

MUMBAI: Radio City 91.1FM has partnered with Music Academy of Chennai for Shobana’s first ever English dance theatre performance called Maya Ravan. Shobana will perform on 30 June, 2007 at the Music Academy in Chennai.

As part of this association, Chennai can tune in to an exclusive interview with danseuse on her performance on The Radio City Breakfast Show on 30 June, 2007. Listeners also stand to win passes to the enchanting performance through on-air contests.

Radio City national head marketing Rana Barua says, “Chennai is a music loving city and our listeners are in for a treat. The performance is a moving theatrical adaptation blending innovation and creativity with traditional dance form across genres of music. As music innovators in Indian radio, our partnership with ‘Maya Ravan’ is our attempt to promote the fine arts, especially classical dance and allow our listeners an opportunity to truly live this moving experience!”

Padmashree Shobana’s labour of love, ‘Maya Ravan’ narrates the story of Ravana’s abduction of Sita through bharathanatyam movements and has been in production for four years. Conceived, choreographed and directed by Shobana, the 90-minute dance drama in English has voices lent by Suhasini Maniratnam, Naseerudin Shah, Milind Soman, Jackie Shroff, Rohini and Revathy.
