3 Idiots hits box office jackpot in India on Monday with Rs 115 million net
MUMBAI: History has been written at the box office. It was manic Monday at its best at the Indian box office when the Aamir Khan starrer 3 Idiots broke all previous box office records. The movie did a net business of approximately Rs 115 million (Rs 11.50 crore) in India on Monday, which is mind-bogging.
With the way things are going, 3 Idiots is looking at one week net business of approximately Rs 720 - 750 million (Rs 72 - 75 crore) in India. Pertinent to note here is that this figure is almost equal to or more than the lifetime box office collections of big ticket movies like Singh Is Kinng, Kambakkth Ishq, Love Aaj Kal amongst others.
Adding the Rs 115 million net collections of Monday with the weekend net collections at Rs 410 million (Rs 41 crore) and paid preview collections at approximately Rs 27 million (Rs 2.71 crore), 3 Idiots has so far done a net business of Rs 552 million (Rs 55.20 crore) till Monday in India alone.
As was reported by Businessofcinema.com earlier, the overseas gross of four days stood at $4.5 million.
