Prince of the Himalayas selected for Wine Country Festival
Mumbai: The Hus Entertainment/Shanghai Film Studios production Prince of the Himalayas, directed by Sherwood Hu, has been selected for the 22nd Napa Sonoma Wine Country Film Festival which will be held in California's wine country valleys 23 July through 3 August.
Prince of the Himalayas was screened recently at the Cannes Marché du Film as well as at the Monaco Charity Film Festival where Sherwood Hu won Best Director and star Purba Rgyal won Best Actor.
The Napa Sonoma Festival has been declared one of the top film festivals in the US by USA Today. "Each year, Napa Sonoma features a most outstanding line-up of critically acclaimed films from around the world," said Stephen Ashton, the nonprofit festival's director and founder, in a letter to the producers of Prince of the Himalayas.
Prince of the Himalayas is said to be, "…accurately described as Shakespeare's Hamlet as you've never seen it, gorgeous filmed in Tibet at 16,000 feet with an all-Tibetan cast." — by Kenneth Turan in the Los Angeles Times (May 25)
"At this time of turbulence as China prepares for the Olympics, Prince of the Himalayas, a Chinese production in the region of Tibet, represents a remarkable artistic achievement that bridges rather than polarizes peoples," says Kaczmarczyk.
